I had the pleasure of visiting two of my favourite stores this weekend: Provide Home and Crate and Barrel. Sometimes I get so busy I don’t have time to get inspired by some of our great local merchants. Although the two stores couldn’t be more different they both satisfied my passion for organic, interesting shapes and lots of texture. Here’s what I saw that I fell in love with.
My first stop was Provide. Rina Menardi has always been on the top of my “wish I owned it all” list. Robert and David make an annual European trip for sourcing and inspiration and Italy has never disappointed them. One of this year’s new colours is a gorgeous blue with turquoise influences. The organic shapes and matte finish leave me wanting more.
Provide is also the sole supplier in Canada for Heath Ceramics. They have carried them since they opened and just returned from a head office tour so hopefully we will get a sneak peek at the new colours coming soon. My favourite right now is a two toned collection in avocado and olive.
Martha Sturdy never disappoints and the black and white resin collection is stunning.
MTN Woodworks have created amazing tables in wood and organic resin combination. You’re going to want one!
Next stop was Crate and Barrel in Oakridge. I am so excited – they are opening in Park Royal in the very near future. I love the consistent influence of mid-century modern both in their furniture and accessories.
Mid-toned woods are prevalent and fabrics have a very interesting texture. I was surprised to see the bit of warm metal here and there. Live edge tables are still strong – in both coffee and dining heights. The hounds tooth chair is so adorable!
Accessories, although predominately organic; wood, wicker and metal, I did see a bit of glitter. Metallic votives were available in a variety of colours. All in all my day was so enjoyable. Both stores not only offer amazing products the customer service was a 10 out 10.
