IDSwest 2015 was such a success! Every year it seems to get better and better, which shows the extent of the Vancouver, and West Coast, design community.

What fun to be in a space surrounded by creative individuals and companies. One of my highlights was a brief conversation with Rob Forbes.

Rob is the founder of Design Within Reach. DWR makes authentic modern design accessible to the masses. Rob started the company out of a need to furnish his property with iconic pieces, that were in-stock and available for purchase. This company has grown exponentially, and I was honored to chat with Rob.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to hear his entire keynote presentation because I was working our Joybird booth. I was, however, able to hear bits and pieces of it, and it certainly peaked my interest. When I got home, I googled him and was so excited to see his interest in photography. As many of you know, photography is a huge passion of mine outside of work! Here’s some of my shots:

One thing I learned is that Rob Forbes has a very interesting blog called Studio Forbes. It was there that I read about an inspiring book called, “Wabi Sabi for Artists, Designer, Poets & Philosophers”. Off I went to Indigo where I spent the afternoon reading this book, fuelled with inspiration. In essence, Rob explains within the book that there is beauty in all things that are less than perfect. I know that personally, some of my favourite images that I’ve taken have been so simple. Rob also did a very interesting Ted Talk that I highly recommend viewing.
I hope you are as inspired by him as I was. Take a look at his site and let me know what you think!
