Interior Colour Trends: Taupe, Warm Grey, and the Soft Return of Colour

< inspo home

Neutrals aren’t going anywhere — they’re just shifting. While cool greys are fading out, taupe, warm greys, and grounded earthy tones are taking centre stage. These colours bring softness, depth, and a sense of calm that feels right at home in today’s interiors. As a result, they’re playing a major role in current interior colour trends.

Current Interior Colour Trends We’re Seeing and Using

Taupe: A Key Player in Today’s Interior Colour Trends
Not quite beige, not quite grey — taupe sits comfortably in the middle. It adds a soft, elegant backdrop that doesn’t feel too warm or too cold. Moreover, it pairs beautifully with both matte black accents and natural wood tones.

For example, we recently styled a living room with a taupe sofa, velvet accent chairs, and pale oak tables—grounded by black details and framed by stunning mountain views. The result? A modern, airy space with just the right amount of warmth.

Warm grey is the new foundation.
For years, cool greys were the go-to neutral. Now, however, the design world is leaning toward warmer tones. Warm grey — think, soft clay, or dusty stone — offers a grounded, lived-in feel that’s easier to personalize.

That’s why we love using warm grey for foundational pieces like rugs, or large furniture. Not only does it act as a soft base, but it also helps accent colours stand out without feeling stark.

Colour is (quietly) coming back.
In addition to these neutrals, we’re seeing a rise in muted colours like moss green, terracotta, ochre, and dusty blue. These tones add richness without overpowering a room.

For instance, in one of our recent dining room projects, we paired deep green chairs with a walnut table, warm lighting, and layered textures. The overall look was elevated, warm, and inviting.

What does this mean for staging and styling?

Neutrals still help buyers emotionally connect with a space. However, we’re now layering in warmer tones and muted colour to add life and memorability. It’s not about going bold — it’s about making a home feel thoughtful, current, and just a little more human.

In short, interior colour trends for 2025 are leaning warm, earthy, and emotionally resonant — and we’re loving the direction.
