BC’s Best Young Designers competition at South Surrey’s, Morgan Crossing first caught our eye when it was featured in the Vancouver Sun in late January. This unique competition, organized by the developer of the new community, was opened to British Columbia residents 30 years old and younger with a passion for design. The six finalists were picked by a panel of judges based upon their video entries and given the opportunity to showcase their talents in one of Morgan Crossings beautiful, brand new condos. Each finalist was given a budget of $10,000-$12,000 for their one or two bedroom suite and five weeks to work their magic. The suites were then opened to the public to view and of course we had to go and check them out! We were impressed by the diverse design style of each of the six suites and the imaginative concepts these young designers came up with on such a moderate budget. There are only a few more days to check out the suites, they are closed to the public on February 20th, and it is well worth the drive. The winner will be announced on February 28th and will receive an all-expenses paid trip to New York to attend the Architectural Digests Home Show. We would like to wish the finalists, Joanna Kado, Jennifer Scott, Britt McMaster, Penelope Sloan, Daniel Meloche and Karen Wong, the best of luck and look forward to following these Best Young Designers with their future careers.
