Perusing the saturday Globe and Mail, an article struck a chord. “A Blogable abode” by Hadani Ditmars, an article about a young Vancouver couple, Akua Schatz and Brendon Purdy who decided to blog about building their 500-square-foot laneway house in Brendon’s parents’ Dunbar backyard. The couple spent over a year building and blogging about one of Vancouver’s more controversial population densification strategies. Not everyone is keen on the laneway houses popping up around Vancouver, Schatz and Purdy see it as a good thing, by building small and green they are saving farmlands and forests from being over run for suburbs.
