Located in a densely shrubbed lot in the Edgemont Village area of North Vancouver, the house known as the Moon Residence was a landmark of West Coast modernism in the 1950’s. It was priced at $14,000 then and increased to $1.38 million after six decades. Fred Hollingsworth was the mastermind behind this house and he continues tol live in his self-designed architectural marvel. Mr. Hollingsworth spent time at American architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesen studio in 1951. Mr. Wright-influenced wooden torchieres can be found in the foyer of the house designed by Fred Hollingsworth. In the 1950s, his designs possessed a truly modernist twist on that era’s architecture. Now, his designs still amaze many people including myself.
