Eve Arnold, one of the 20th century’s foremost photographers, has passed away at age 99. She photographed Marilyn Monroe extensively over a 10 year period, including photpgraphs on the set of The Misfits (1961). Her work was mostly people related but they went far beyond the boundary of celebrity; taking in everything from American migratory potato pickers and black civil rights protesters, to newborn babies, Afghan nomads and the poverty-stricken of South Africa and the Far East. Eve will be remembered as one of the pioneer in the field of photojournalism.
Great post Alex. Thanks for that. What an inspiration. I would have loved to meet her!
