Coast Modern: Independant Documentary on West Coast Modernism

< inspo home

Last week I was lucky enough to get a ticket to see the independent documentary Coast Modern, playing at the Vancity Theatre. The film highlights the achievements of West Coast Modernism as it travels from Vancouver to Los Angeles examining iconic pieces of architecture and the thinking behind them. This relaxing journey spans much of the 20th century leading right up to the present day. The film was a great reminder to me of how special the West Coast is; in both its built and natural form. I left the theatre feeling inspired and proud of the innovative thinkers in our own backyard.

Although the screenings scheduled for Vancouver finished with sold out audiences, there has been talk of scheduling more showings for August. Visit the Coast Modern website for updates on more showings at the VanCity Theater.
