Back-to-School Inspired Desk Vignettes

< inspo home

We had a fun adventure today at Flüff.  It slowed down enough for us to catch our breath and we took the opportunity to do an inspiration project.  Each designer got a unique style of desk and had to choose art and accessories representing a story around a specific personality. With all the awareness of back to school we wanted to put our spin on “desk design”.  Here’s what we came up with:

Keely’s desk –  Keely’s desk represents a doctor that resides in Whistler.  His passion is mountain biking and snowboarding.  He is divorced (probably because of all the time he spent in the bike park) but does date a lot. He is a hot commodity in the Whistler “scene”.   His long hours and active life style have reinforced his espresso addiction.

Steph’s desk – This desk owner is a student at the Art Institute and is about to begin his very first project for his visual arts course.  His is using the high gloss, large format porcelain tile as a backdrop and is about to apply colour and texture for visual interest.  He is single but hoping to meet an “artist of interest” in his program.

Tiffany’s desk – This desk belongs to a 30 something single architect.   He love design of all kinds and is a coffee aficionado.  He favourite coffee shop is  49th Parallel Coffee House.  He not only enjoys their amazing coffees, roasting procedures but also their ethical business practises.

Sandra’s desk – This young 20 something is a bit spoiled and has never really grown up.  He still lives at home and enjoys that his parents take care of him.  He is obsessed with “other worldly” fantasies and is convinced that he will be able to conquer time travel.  Although his parents try to get him to be more responsible he feels that intense research in astrophysics is of utmost importance.

Shane’s desk – Firstly, we were surprised that Shane didn’t build the desk to begin his exercise.  Shane’s client is an Anderson Cooper-esque single male architect.  On the weekend he enjoys cooking and entertaining and is a self proclaimed wine snob.

Jennie’s desk – These desk owners are a young couple planning their trip to Taiwan.  They are young adventure seekers with a concern for the environment – hence their choice of a bamboo table and a retro chair.
