This project was particularly fun due to the simple charm of the home itself – a quaint 3 bedroom on one level. It was situated on a corner lot surrounded by an abundance of nature. It was obvious that we needed to capture the cottage feel that this home embodied.
The calm blue of the kitchen countertops was an undeniable kick off point for us. It allowed us to carry soft shades of blues and greens into the bedrooms which created a tranquil and soothing atmosphere. We used elements of wood in many of our accessories throughout the home which helped create a rustic and organic feel and tie each of the rooms together. The blue also allowed us to warm up the living space by using pops of rust and deep oranges which complimented the stunning stone fireplace, which was a main focal point.
The office (or third bedroom) was painted in a deeper, richer shade of grey than the other rooms in the house. This allowed us to create a more dramatic and creative working environment by introducing vibrant pops of colour while mixing modern and retro pieces of furniture together. The final result was a charming cottage style retreat that was as inviting as it was cozy.
