Last week we had the opportunity to interview ceramic visual artist, Brendan Tang, in his East Vancouver studio. He shared some of his artwork with us and spoke about his experiences as a Canadian artist living in Vancouver.

Brendan talked about his influences, artistic process’, past, present, and future. His blend of traditional oriental ceramics with a futuristic perspective is innovative and intriguing. Brendan describes working with clay as a way to instantly see his creation, so there is a sense of instant gratification.

Brendan’s work has received worldwide recognition. Some exhibited at the Seattle Art Museum, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (as a Sobey Finalist 2010), and Art Labor in Shanghai. Upcoming exhibitions of his work will take place at the Surrey Art Gallery, and the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery.

Brendan also teaches at the Emily Carr campus in Vancouver; his work is also currently on display at Gallery Jones in Vancouver. You can find Brendan online on his Website, Twitter and Facebook.
