Our first stop is always Ames Tile. The selection, price and customer service has always been second to none. Whether you are doing an entire project or just a little reno they are more than happy to help. (We just stopped in to pick for a project we are working on – more to come on this next week).
Well here’s some good news. They have completely revamped their showroom (well it’s almost done) and added many new looks. It is definitely more designer oriented. You can still get all the regular contract grade materials but they are tucked away in the back.
Some of the new looks include:
- A wide variety of coloured glass in many sizes, finishes and lots with interesting texture. Some that stood out to me were composites of stone & glass and stone & metal. So gorgeous!
- Continuing on the textural theme there are many selections of tiles made from wood. My favourite was featured in a chevron pattern.
- Moving on was a collection called “Artistic”. It included marble mosaics, glass inlaid in marble and some had a pearlescent finish.
- “Modularart” was the next to inspire me. These are 16”x16” tiles made from gypsum rock. These can be butted up to each other, sanded and painted any colour to create the most amazing textural feature wall. They come in a variety of patterns and textures.
Although this is just a quick sampling of what they are showing I strongly suggest visiting their showroom. Be prepared to spend a little time.
