Recently we staged a beautiful brand new home in Richmond. Although it was a pleasure to decorate, it required a lot of furniture and a good idea of how to use extra space, especially in the grand master bedroom. Filling large spaces can sometimes be a little bit overwhelming and challenging, so here are a couple ideas for ways to make the most of extra space in large bedrooms.
Tips to “Fill” a Large Bedroom:
- Create a “his and hers” sitting area. One way we filled the space was by creating a sitting area with 2 chairs, a tree, a side table, and a piece of art to warm up the grouping and pull everything together. This is a great way to fill a corner or a long wall in a room.
- Another tip is to add an ottoman at the end of the bed. We used this trick in the master because the room was so long. By doing this you can create a luxurious look and even put a breakfast tray on it, which is a fun touch.
- The last thing we did was accessorize wide window ledges with pillows to soften the room and also fill the space. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different furniture arrangements and play! It’s all about trying to make the most of the space.
