Flüff Designs was honoured to help out The Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay For Life in Vancouver this year.

What is The Relay for Life?

The Relay for Life is an inspirational, non-competitive, 12-hour overnight fundraising event that brings the community together to celebrate life and fight cancer. All ages can participate to raise money and awareness for cancer at this festival-like atmosphere.

Karen Young Chester, the Survivor Engagement Co-Chair for the event, contacted Flüff to provide the furniture for the the Cancer Survivors’ Tent dinner and reception. She wanted to make the tent as comfortable as possible for the cancer survivors at all stages of health and their caregivers.

Design Challenges & Solution

The challenge was the event was outdoors and we had to work within a 20×20 foot tent. Sarah and I worked to maximize seating and for the tent to be able to accommodate 40 or more people, a registration table, a table for a henna artist, a table for people to make a wish, and an area for food and drinks to be served.

We used patio furniture to go with the outdoor space, 2 small tables for the henna and make a wish station, and a long high table for the check in area that could also double as a table for the food for the reception. We used the yellow throw pillows to coordinate with the yellow colour of the Cancer Society.
