One issue we often hear about is how to design a smaller outdoor space. It can be quite tricky. So we’ve pulled our favourite small balcony ideas to help!
1. ClassicFor a “classic” styled space, choose black, white, grey and pair it with light coloured wood. We love the outdoor string lights, tasseled textiles, and classic patterns. This is a beautiful way to create a peaceful, distraction-free outdoor space.
2. BohoQuite the opposite of a classic design, these “bohemian” inspired balcony’s make you feel at home in the tropics no matter where you are! We love the idea of a hammock outdoors. They are very easy to install, and the perfect place to take an afternoon nap. We think using a ceramic side table like the yellow one in the right image adds a pop of colour, and serves a practical purpose. We also love the pile of planters, and the updated look to the wicker furniture
3. MinimalistI’m a huge fan of the “minimalist” look that’s been a major trend in interiors lately. These Scandinavian looking balcony’s are beautiful and fresh. We love the live plants, whitewash looking decor, and we definitely want one of those smoothies! These looks could be decorated with Ikea pieces – cost-effective and stylish.
4. BrightThese fun, bright outdoor spaces are cheery and a great place to start your day in. We want to enjoy a cup of tea and a book in both of these balcony’s! The layered rugs on the left are an amazing idea, something we haven’t seen for outdoor spaces! And why not try a sheepskin outdoors too!? (So long as the balcony is sheltered from the elements). We love the mixed-prints in the right image. They work so well together as each print has the same colours. The planter is a great way to save space but bring in some fresh flowers or greens. The foldable chair and table can be tucked away if you need more space as well.
These small balcony ideas are ingenious! We think there’s many ideas to take away from these to apply in your own home! We can’t wait to try the layered rugs and whitewash milk crates, how about you?
