Sofa’s are the most important piece of a living room, yet they are often overlooked. Here’s how to style a sofa à la Fluff Designs.
We love a statement piece of furniture like this pink Joybird sofa. As many of you know, we are the Canadian supplier for Joybird sofas. We’re featuring their products in today’s post, to show you how to style the product!
We love this emerald green “Redmond” sofa. The fabric is such a rich hue, you don’t even need any other colour in the room! We added to the luxe feel by choosing a brass coffee table and wall art, and a velvet pillow. With the retro style of the sofa, we of course wanted to create a mid-century influenced space. The two leather chairs have a beautiful walnut wood finish, as does the side table and lamp. The magazine holder has an antique style too! The rug brings in all the colours creating a cohesive space.
We wanted to create a bohemian space with this mustard yellow “Mora” sofa. The dark wood of the coffee table picks up the brick tone. These grey leather chairs are modern and add a polished look to this boho space. Although it’s a lot of colour, we like the look of this bright rug with the sofa. We picked black and white art so it would pop in this muted space. And, of course, every home needs a giant tropical plant!
This bright space is inspired by California, where Joybird comes from! We wanted to make this space a bit wild, because why not!? We used an aqua “Percy” sofa which has a minimal design, which means you can be bold with the colour! We added some tropical plants, a painted buffalo skull, graphic art prints, and a pineapple drink cup. Is has a laid back feel with the string likes, but looks polished with the metal, and marble, tables.
Some things to consider when styling a sofa in your living room:
- bold colour, minimal design (or vise versa)
- bring in glass and metal to add polish
- pick a style for the space (mid-century, contemporary, industrial)
- find inspiration images in this style to refer to
- function trumps all (what will you actually use this room for?)
- have fun! design doesn’t have to be stressful
