We love working with blue. Whether you choose neutral navy or a bright cobalt, it really works in any space. Here are Fluff’s tips for decorating with blue.
Use blue art
We love these minimal pieces of art because they compliment the space without being distracting.
These graphic images in the left work well for a decorated home. The art in the right is a style better suited for staging. We often pick painterly pieces that are a blend of colours rather than a definitive design.
Calming blue bathroom
Painting a piece of furniture like the left image may seem bold, but works when paired with neutral colours. As we can’t paint our clients furniture, we stuck with blue accessories and art in the right bathroom.
Don’t forget to accessorize! It make such a difference adding a few accessories to a vanity or storage shelf.
Blue bedding
Blue bedding always creates a soothing atmosphere – perfect for the bedroom! It also gives the space a luxurious feel.
How amazing is this navy wall paint!? It looks great with the natural walnut wood. We paired neutral cream and white with blues in this bedroom space.
Dining area
Blue is a colour we don’t often see used in dining spaces – but we love it! Paired with gold and mixed neutrals, this space in the left images is perfection! We chose to use a brighter blue in our dining space.
Choosing accents of blue may be a better option for you if colour seems overwhelming. Pick colourful linens to add some vibrancy to a space.
Blue furniture
If you’re thinking about buying colourful furniture, consider choosing the piece in blue. It can be mixed with so many other colours to change up the look – you’ll never get sick of it!
Blue in the kitchen
These all-white spaces look fresh and bright with blue accents.
Blue accent pillows
Another colour blue works well with is grey. Take note from these two spaces! Adding blue accent colours is the best way to try out the colour before committing to it. We love the cobalt pillows with the geo-printed ones in the left image. We picked more neutral patterns so they wouldn’t compete with the rug.
Blue rugs
Adding a dark blue rug will ground your living room space. We love the striped rug in the left mixed with the light wood, and our brighter blue mixed in with the contemporary table.
Blue patio spaces
The white wicker furniture pairs nicely with the blue cushions. Our furniture in the right pops against the light coloured balcony flooring. We added a few shades of blue to create interest.
As you can see, you can really use blue anywhere in the home. We hope this helps you start decorating with blue. What a great colour it is!
