Whistler Condo Renovation

< inspo home

This November the Fluff team took a trip to Whistler to install an amazing condo project we designed for Our Vacation Homes. Take a look at the finished result below!

My husband and I love having our place in Whistler. When it’s not rented, we spend time quality time with our friends and family taking in the west coast nature. We were devastated when we got the call two years ago about an extensive fire that took over the building. What wasn’t wrecked by the fire was flooded by the sprinklers. Although this was a shock to us, we decided to turn this into a positive situation. We renovated our condo into a more modern getaway rather than the common lodge look seen in Whistler.

Firstly, we sourced flooring. We wanted to pick an option that offered great design, but was suitable for a rental. Frontier Luxury Flooring offers a line of wood-like vinyl planking. We’ve put some into the Fluff warehouse and we can say it’s impervious to almost anything. We picked a washed-out grey colour which was a great starting point for our renovation.

The next thing we updated was the kitchen cabinetry. We no longer wanted the raised panel cabinets. Although they were quality-made, they didn’t suit the look as much as the flat white cabinets we went with.  Another update in the kitchen was beautiful Silestone quartz counters in “arctic”. Counters are one of the most important areas to spend money on when renovating as they will hold the test of time.

Next, we chose the wall colour. I wanted to find a warm grey, and, after much debate, we picked Snappy Dresser from Para Paints. We needed to hang some art on those grey walls too! A cohesive group of colourful abstracts was the best option.  Our colour story for the space was a turquoise and yellow array. Because the property has 18 foot ceilings, we wanted to hang a large, dramatic piece of art in the dining room.

We carried the yellow through the dining room with some great mustard leather chairs from IKEA. They popped against the white marble tulip dining table. We chose an oversized black wire light fixture from Crate&Barrel for above this table.

We filled the condo with functional, modern furniture like storage beds, white leather armchairs, a grey sofabed. And, Of course, we couldn’t forget about accessories. Matte grey, copper, gold, and rustic grey accessories were all used to complete the space.
