All Things IDS Vancouver 2017

< inspo home

We are back in action and just in time. IDS Vancouver has kicked off this week with a series of offsite events and parties. We had the pleasure of attending the third installment of  THE MIX : Materials Matter a collaborative installation between Vancouver designer Martha Sturdy and designer Sabine Marcelis from the Netherlands. Both designers will be onstage on Sunday discussing commonalities in their work and process with a focus on materials.

Parties

Tonight is the official kick off to the weekend with the opening night party presented by Inform Interiors and Intracorp. It is always a great evening and one of the largest design events in Vancouver. Friday night the designers relax after trade day with a great party at the Jan Kath gallery in Railtown for the Gray Magazine Party.

There is a lot to see at this years show. West Coast Homes and Design recently featured IDS Vancouver so if you are looking for an in depth preview of the show, check out the whole article here.

Speakers

Speakers we are excited to see this year are designers Camille Walala who speaks on Saturday and Kate Arends from the lifestyle blog Wit and Delight who takes the stage on Sunday. We always discover someone new to inspire us at IDS Vancouver and this year we are looking forward to hearing from Italian designer and creative director Matteo Cibic during the Azure Trade talks.

Exhibits

Make sure to check out the Prototype Exhibit. The IDS Vancouver team describes Prototype as,

A curated showcase of the next generation of designers. This feature is a juried platform featuring products not currently in production addressing new ideas for the residential market.

This year we are also looking forward to The Tokyo Exchange. The Exchange is curated by Design Milk and always showcases innovative design thinking.

The fourth installment of The Exchange at IDS Vancouver will bring you to Tokyo! An enigmatic city, Tokyo’s design scene is a mixture of ancient and modern, liberal and conservative, east and west influences.

We are excited to see what the weekend brings and we want to hear what you loved about IDS Vancouver this year? See you at the show!
