Last weekend, the Vancouver Convention Centre West came alive for IDS Vancouver, bringing together designers, makers and curious minds from across the industry. We were excited to be right in the middle of it all, furnishing the IDS Seminar Stage on the show floor.

A New Way to Learn at IDS
In past years, IDS seminars happened outside the exhibition space. This year, the seminar stage moved onto the show floor, so attendees could go from learning to sourcing without leaving the action. It was a smart change, and we were thrilled to be part of it.
The stage was designed by Gensler, the award-winning international design firm, with walls from Hush Acoustics, whose acoustic solutions kept the space calm and every speaker easy to hear, even in the middle of a busy show.
Where Flüff Came In
Flüff Designs furnished the entire seminar space. We worked closely with the Gensler team to bring the furniture into the overall vision for the space.
We started with the practical side of the project. First, we looked at how many people the space needed to accommodate and how the different seating areas would be used throughout the show.
From there, we developed the furniture layout around those requirements. Every piece also needed to contribute to the 70s-inspired aesthetic.

To achieve that feeling, we focused on furniture that felt warm, relaxed and inviting. We leaned into earthy tones, rich textures and comfortable lounge seating.
The final selection brought together caramel and mustard modular seating, deep olive-green sofas, rich brown pieces and sculptural side tables.
We also introduced pieces from Bandit Decor, our new sister company, which offers 12 sofas in its collection. The brown sofa featured in the space is one of the best sellers from Bandit’s modular collection, adding a warm, contemporary element to the design.

Alongside Bandit Decor, we incorporated pieces from our partner Gus Modern, including the Podium green sofa and Odeon side tables. We’ve also added the Gus Modern collection to our offerings, and while the Nord Sofa wasn’t used in this project, it’s one of our favourites and a piece we frequently use for events, so we wanted to highlight it as another option.
By bringing these collections together, we created a layered look that felt distinctly 70s-inspired while keeping the overall design cohesive and inviting.
Why This Partnership Mattered to Us
What made this project special was the collaboration behind it.
Gensler brought their design expertise, while Hush Acoustics developed the acoustic configuration and spatial environment. Meanwhile, Flüff brought the furniture plan and rental pieces together around the needs of the stage.
Each team brought something different to the table. The result was a space that felt cohesive from the first sketch to the last seat. It was also a reminder of what we love most about what we do.
Furniture isn’t just something that fills a room. Instead, it shapes how people experience a space. It influences where they sit, how they connect and how long they stay. It also plays a role in how comfortable people feel.
Seeing the finished stage in use was especially rewarding. The seating created the intimate, conversational feeling the design called for. At the same time, it gave attendees a comfortable place to settle in and focus on the sessions.
Thank You
A special thank you to Youjin for reaching out to us and bringing Flüff into this collaboration.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Gensler, Hush Acoustics and the IDS Vancouver team. Together, we helped bring the seminar stage to life.
We loved being part of a project that brought together thoughtful design, acoustic innovation, education and conversation. And, of course, a little 70s inspiration along the way.
To everyone who stopped by the stage, we hope you found a comfortable seat, a good conversation and something to inspire you.
